WEDDING BANDS

NOW AND FOREVER.

Wedding bands

Wedding bands are an enduring symbol of fidelity and love. While traditionally simpler in design than engagement rings, there’s no reason why your wedding bands can’t be every bit as unique. The Diamond Shop offers a huge range of design options for wedding bands, including engraving, stone-setting and your choice of precious metals. From classically understated bands to diamond-studded showstoppers, choose a matching pair or mix it up with individual bands that reflect your personalities.

PRECIOUS METALS

ALL THAT GLITTERS.

Since the days of the Roman Empire, gold has been the traditional metal of wedding bands. Timeless yellow gold, elegant white gold and warm rose gold remain among the most popular choices for wedding jewellery.

However, it’s worth bearing in mind that there are many other precious metal options available to modern couples. These include platinum, a comparatively rare metal which is heavier and more durable than gold; palladium, a softer white metal well-suited to those with very sensitive skin; and titanium, a low-maintenance, lightweight metal of a darker colour than white gold or platinum.

Our bands can be crafted in any of the above metals, or even customized using two contrasting metals. Our experts are also here to help. Contact us at any time for more detailed guidance on the qualities and advantages of each metal.

ENGRAVING

YOUR HANDWRITING.
A NEW ZEALAND FIRST.

There are few things more personal than a handwritten message of love. That’s why The Diamond Shop is proud to be the only jeweller in New Zealand able to scan and engrave a message in your or your partner’s real handwriting. In an age where so much is digital and ephemeral, our engraving technology allows us to create a unique and lasting memento of this moment in your lives.

We’ll engrave almost anything else you can think of too, on the inside or the outside of the band. Names, initials, wedding dates, religious symbols, and love-hearts are among the many popular options available.

HAND CRAFTED

THE BESPOKE DIFFERENCE.

While many larger jewellers mass-produce rings by machine-cutting them off a pre-made tube of gold, each of our rings begins its journey as a solid bar of precious metal. Using a combination of modern and traditional goldworking tools, one of the jewellers in our Auckland workshop will craft the bar into shape, then apply the selected finish. Any diamonds selected are mounted separately by a specialist jewel-setter, and finally the engraving is performed if ordered. This labour-intensive process takes approximately four days.

EDGES, FIT AND FINISH

BECAUSE DETAILS MATTER.

  • Edges

    EDGES

The profile is the external shape of your band, which is largely defined by the shape of its edges. These range from the classic profile, which is slightly rounded on the outside, to the knife-edge profile, cut at an angle to reflect more light. Our Comfort Curve™ rings are rounded on the inside as well, to minimise contact between the finger and the edges.

  • Fit

    FIT

When choosing a band that you’ll wear for the rest of your life, getting the fit right is crucial. The perfect fit is one that you barely notice– it quickly feels like part of your hand. Use this handy tool to determine your ring size, or visit us in person for a custom measurement.

  • Finish

    FINISH

The finish is a subtle texture that reflects or absorbs light in different ways. Different finishes can impart a totally different look to rings of otherwise identical cut and metal. A satin or matte finish shifts emphasis from the band to any diamonds set in the band. A hammered or brushed finish, on the other hand, draws attention to the band itself.

We offer a range of finishes, from the traditional high polish to bold hammered or brushed effects. It’s worth noting that special surface finishes like cross hatching will be subject to scratching and abrasions in the course of regular wear. Because of this, we are not able to offer a lifetime guarantee on these finishes.
